The National Labor Exchange (NLx) partnership operates the only nonprofit national online labor exchange system in the United States. Formed between employers and state workforce agencies, the NLx collects and distributes job openings exclusively found on corporate career websites, state job banks and federal government job sites.

How it works

  1. Jobs are collected from authentic sources—no duplicates or scams
  2. Jobs are refreshed and provided daily to government/nonprofit sites—no dead links
  3. Jobs are made available to job seekers

Regardless of where a job seeker discovers an NLx job opening, they will be returned to the point of origin: either the corporate careers website or the state job bank.

    NASWA chooses DirectEmployers Association (DE) to replace AJB

    The NLx is created, focusing on improving job market efficiency and leveraging non-profit technologies and state workforce agency resources

    AJB is fully discontinued by the Department of Labor

    JobCentral NLx replaces AJB on July 1

    NLx Operations Committee (now NLx Steering Committee) is created to guide the ongoing activity of the NLx and future developments

    Through the height of the recession, 2.7 million jobs were distributed to veteran representatives

    NLx reports created for and available to states, providing job seeker analytics and data

    NASWA and DE extend partnership agreement until 2017, two years prior to contract renewal date

    JobCentral transitions to a new domain, US.jobs

    NASWA and DE reach goal of having all 50 states and three U.S. territories sign a NLx Participation Agreement to exchange job data—a coordinated effort like this has never happened bringing states and employers closer together

    Job content for the Veterans Job Bank is populated by the NLx / US.jobs

    The NLx participates in World Association of Public Employer Services (WAPES) Conference sharing information on how employers and state workforce agencies have transformed the public labor exchange in the U.S.

    DE and NASWA join U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes program to support and provide job content to the Foundation’s online job search tool, Fast Track

  • September

    Hilton Honors Program begins with initial participation from four state workforce agencies (SWA). Developed at an NLx Steering Committee Meeting, this program represents a partnership between SWA’s and Hilton to provide veterans with 100,000 hotel reward points to use toward their employment search activities

    NLx selected to power WRP.jobs —a no-cost online job board to find pre-screened college students and recent graduates with disabilities

    DE and NASWA announce 10-year partnership extension, and commitment to continue to expanding awareness and adoption of the NLx
