JOB REQUIREMENTS: Accounting Technician I The Washington County Clerk of Courts Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Accounting Technician I. The Accounting Technician I is responsible for assisting the Clerk of Courts, the Register in Probate and the Clerk of Juvenile Court in the discharge of the duties of their offices by providing support services for the Circuit Court system. Qualified candidates must possess: One year of post high school education with courses in bookkeeping or accounting, and one year of accounting experience or a high school diploma or GED and two years of accounting experience Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, and responsible for assisting the Clerk of Courts, the Register in Probate and the Clerk of Juvenile Court in the discharge of the duties of their offices by providing support services for the Circuit Court system. Duties/Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or allinclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Greet customers, assess the purpose of the visit, direct to appropriate department, date stamp documents for filing, deputize documents, assist litigants with public access computer, provide general court assistance as required. Process incoming faxes and distribute to judiciary and other staff. Analyze account information and accurately receipt payments received by mail and in-person through multiple payment methods, handle cash, and reconcile deposit drawer. Reconcile and receipt payments received from credit card processing company. Process bankruptcy notices and maintains bankruptcy spreadsheet regarding debts due. Analyze unpaid debts and process appropriate collection actions. Maintain records management system by entering assessment and other court data into computer. Prepare and process court orders.
