**Position Overview:**

Provides functional guidance to staff and new hires. Monitors status of assigned areas. Maintains a clean, attractive and safe environment by performing appropriate cleaning duties. Performs patient transportation and or lift services. May transport monitored telemetry patients if the required training provided by Nursing education is completed and competencies are current. Assists nursing with dressing changes and transports deceased patients to the morgue. Performs general security work in the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules and regulations of Sutter Health and applicable federal, state, and local laws to prevent losses due to accidents and incidents.

**Qualifications:**

**Certifications/Licensure/Education:**

BLS, MAP, PSO

EMT, Paramedic Certification preferred

High School Diploma required or equivalent amount of education and experience

AA or AS Degree Desired

**Experience:**

Prior experience in a patient care setting. Security (preferably in a hospital setting) background is preferable. Prior experience as an EVS technician and/or patient escort in a healthcare setting is strongly desired Leadership experience is preferred. Ideal candidate would have at least 2 years of healthcare related experience.

**Knowledge:**

Must have knowledge of proper body mechanics, safe transfer techniques, and safe operation of a variety of lifting, moving, and transporting equipment. Knowledge of healthcare equipment and cleaning chemicals is required. Physical and emotional maturity required for the high degree of judgment and diplomacy necessary to work efficiently in a healthcare environment.

**Skills:**

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to handle multiple requests and prioritize. Monitor tech transporters must be able to recognize and interpret EKG strips and respond appropriately if there is a problem. Lift team must be able to assist with bariatric patient dressing changes that can require them to hold a patient in the same position for over one hour. Skilled in dealing with difficult patients, confused/combative patients, and security training.

**Special Requirements:**

Proprietary Security Officer Course Completion will be required within 45 days of hire at employers expense. Managing Aggressive Behavior training will be required within 30 days of hire at employers expense. Use safe body mechanics and moving techniques, including warm-up exercises. Uses appropriate safety equipment for transfer/lift/ambulation. Works as a team to ensure a safe move.
